All our Teaching and Nursery Support Staff go through a thorough interview and selection process, regardless of the role they applied for, this involves:

  • Pre-screening

  • In-depth interview and ID checks

  • Medical History questionnaire

  • Confirmation of all qualifications

  • CRB (Enhanced Disclosure) check

  • Professional references are obtained

Safeguarding Children Policy (Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006)

We have a clear Policy on this issue and take the Safeguarding and promoting of Children very seriously and ensure that all our staff are briefed on being aware of the type of abuse some children may be subjected too. To view or download our Safeguarding Children Policy please click "HERE"

As to Ofsted regulations, we supply all our customers with basic Safeguarding Information on all Support Staff that attend schools/settings etc. This information contains things like Name, Address, CRB Disclosure details, Qualifications, Photograph and DOB etc.

Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA)

The ISA is a Non-Departmental Public Body set up by the Home Office to provide a new vetting and barring service for those working with children or vulnerable adults.

JULY REGISTRATION HALTED AS VBS IS REMODELLED

The Home Secretary, Theresa May, has today (15th June 2010) issued a statement to the House of Commons which confirms the stated intention of the coalition Government to review the Vetting & Barring and Criminal Records regimes to ensure that they are scaled back to common sense levels.

Further information on this will be updated here as soon as we have further information.

For further information on the ISA and its new service, please visit the ISA website www.isa-gov.org

How will individuals apply to register with the ISA?

Individuals in England and Wales will apply to the CRB for a new Disclosure and registration with the ISA. Individuals in Northern Ireland will apply through AccessNI.

For further information on the ISA and its new service, please visit the ISA website www.isa-gov.org

Qualifications

  • Nursery staff will hold qualifications within "Early Years" (Min NVQ Level 2) most are NVQ Level 3, NNEB, BTEC etc.

  • Teaching Assistants will have the relevant experience to assist core subjects and help to create a positive learning environment.
  • Teachers range from newly qualified to qualified and highly experienced.

Special Educational Needs

There are about 20% of pupils who attend mainstream schools in the UK who have special educational needs. A Teaching Assistant provides additional support to these pupils allowing them to make progress and access the curriculum:

Dyslexia - Difficulty when learning to write, read, spell and with letter formation despite progressing well in other areas. Pupils may reverse letters and sounds in words.

Dyscalculia - Difficulty when learning with numbers, including the simple number concepts and problem solving.

Dyspraxia - Pupils may be affected by an impairment or immaturity of organisation of movement. They may have poor balance, coordination, motor skills etc (running, skipping, holding a pencil etc).

We understand the complexities of the support role needed, especially within Special Need Schools. We therefore try and ensure continuity of supply for each booking received, therefore ensuring the children within the schools / settings get to know our staff as if they were part of your permanent team.

Teaching Assistant Handbook

We have created a Handbook for Teaching Assistants etc which contains lots of useful information relating to TA duties, schools setups, why cover work is required etc. To view or download this Handbook please click on the link: Teaching Assistant Handbook

We are a supporter and active member of the National Day Nursery Association

We also assist our staff with applications for Enhanced Disclosures through an Umbrella Body acting for the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB).

Further information on our CRB process can be found by clicking 'HERE'

We also offer a Babysitting Service (at present - Plymouth area only) for week day / weekend evenings. For further information on this service, please click "HERE"
