How do I get Temporary Work? - First of all you will need to register your details with us and let us know what type of work you are prepared to do. We will also need to know your availability and duration. Once you have registered with us we will try and source suitable work for you.

Do I have to pay any fee's to register? - No, it is illegal for a recruitment agency to charge you for registering for Temporary work. The agency can ask you to pay for additional services such as CV creation, Enhanced Disclosure checks etc, but these charges must be displayed in the agency's office.

How do I know when and where to work? - We will give you your assignment details either weekly or daily, depending on the position. This is done by either telephone / email or just asking you to come to the office.

What happens if I am unable to attend work due to sickness etc? - If you are booked for an assignment and are unable to attend, due to sickness etc, you must inform us ASAP to enable us to provide cover for you and also to let the customer know.

How do I contact Unique Staffing when the office is closed? - We operate a 24 Hour Telephone Service for our customers and applicants alike. All you need to do is telephone the normal day time number: 01752 881621

What will my hourly rate be? - You will be informed of this when you register with us.

Will there be any deductions from my pay? - We all have to pay Tax and NI on earnings. These will be deducted from your weekly pay. Your Payslip will detail all statuary deductions.

How do I get paid? - You will be paid weekly, a week in arrears, for any work you do for us. Your pay is paid into your Bank Account and draw-able on the Fridays. A payslip, detailing your pay etc, will be sent to your home address.

How do you know how much to pay me? - You will be issued with Timesheets when you start with us. You will need to complete a Timesheet for each assignment you do. These Timesheet(s) must be signed by the customer(s) to confirm the hours worked. You will then need to present your Timesheets to us, each Monday, for any work carried out in the previous week to enable us to calculate your pay.

What is the difference between Temporary and Permanent work? - Temporary work is usually for short term periods although these can go on for longer periods of time depending on the nature of the assignment. The agency is responsible for paying you for any work you carryout on its behalf. Permanent work is when you actually become employed by the end user (the customer) Your new employer will be responsible for paying you and issuing you with a contract of employment.

What is an Enhanced Disclosure? - This is a Police check carried out on your background through the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB). Anyone wishing to work within a Childcare environment etc must hold an Enhanced Disclosure before work can commence.

How do I get an Enhanced Disclosure? - We use the services of CAPITA who is an Umbrella Body for the CRB. This enables us to process your application for a Disclosure. The charge for this service is currently £53.25 per application. This charge is the cost to the CRB and CAPITA's admin fee.

Do I have to do any training? - Depending on the position you want, there may be some initial training required. We do offer advancement training to help you progress within your work environment.

What happens if a customer offers me a permanent position? - This is good news if it is what you want. We would have already spoken with the customer regarding the full time position and then contact you to ensure you are in agreement. Once a date has been agreed with yourself and the employer to go Perm, we will raise you your P45 etc.

I'm thinking of becoming a Teacher - How do I do this? - Try the Training & Development website www.tda.gov.uk this site will give you the different training routes available as well as specific entry requirements.

I want to work in education but I'm not qualified - what can I do? - In order for you to work with us as a teaching assistant, exam invigilator or nursery assistant you will need to have 3 to 6 months experience in an environment working with children aged 0 to 16. This could have been paid or as a volunteer.

I have experience working with children, when can I start? - As long as you have the relevant experience and can provide suitable references and have a current Enhanced Disclosure you can start work as soon as an assignment is found for you. You will first have to register with us, which takes about an hour. As soon as the references have been checked, you should be able to start the following day.

I haven't got a CRB Disclosure / I have lost my CRB Disclosure, what can I do? - The CRB will only issue you a copy up to 2 months from original issue date. If you require a new Disclosure we can assist you with this as we use the services of an Umbrella Body of the CRB. The cost for a new Disclosure is £53.25 This is the cost to the CRB and the umbrella bodies admin fee.
